Creigiau - Friday 12 August

82 moths of 36 species on Friday night. If my IDs are correct, 2 of these (Campion and Swammerdamia pyrella) are new for me and another 4 (Acrobasis advenella, Pinion-streaked Snout, Rivulet and Swallow Prominent) were new for the year.

The purplish tinge suggests Campion

Swammerdamia pyrella .. ? The camera flash has really highlighted the coppery termen.

Acrobasis advenella  ?

Pinion-streaked Snout

Had both Swallow Prominent and Lesser Swallow Prominent in the trap on Friday so nice to see them together. The images are approx same scale so shows up the size difference quite well.

and finally ...... with reference to Stephen's recent posting regarding Rivulet, I also had both of these in the trap, so I have done the same for these. The images clearly show the size difference (2mm grid) and the 'double indentation' on the Small Rivulet is also clear.

  1. Cheers Howard, those two images of Rivulet and Small Rivulet, helped a great deal. It does look more like A Rivulet than a Small Rivulet.
    Cheers
