Rhoose Point

79 species here last night, which is I am pretty sure, the second highest total for the garden.  7 scarlet tigers this time so it looks like the one I caught a couple of days ago is a local rather than a wanderer.  Also this Garden Tiger which is new for the garden record.

Still a few to look through so I may update again later!

  1. Great that you're getting so many Scarlet Tigers Adam. My species count has remained remarkably constant over the last 3 nights: 57-58-58. Last night's catch was the least exciting, though I have a little plain Argyresthia which looks interesting...

  2. I actually beat you for once! Over 80 species last night, well worth getting up at 5am to do it. Nothing remarkable amongst the haul though.

  3. I don't think I'll ever get 80 species here, my best ever haul is 68 species in late JUly last year...

  4. I'll let you know if you do Dave! Some of the tubes had more than one moth in (I only counted the tubes), so it depends on how many of the micros and Pugs I manage to id...!

  5. Darn, after entering it into MapMate it came out as 78 species! Miscounted a few caddis on my list. You win again after all!

  6. Just counted mine, and have only 75 so you win after all! There were several duplicates in the tubes. There was also a Hedya ochroleucana which is new for the garden to make up for the humiliating defeat!
